mysundayhat.com

I made a website/blog for the band.

mysundayhat.com

Look at it!

That's where I will put all the gig show note things from now on.. like this one.
In fact having the older ones here was useful for making the site. Yeo!

Steady as she Goes
Drowned in Sound Video
Explosion

  • First time playing in the Pavallion
  • The organisers of this gig were the same lads who were doing sound at Gig #1
  • In a Spinal Tap-esqe faux pax we were named as "My Saturday Hat" on the poster...
  • Then we were "The Saturday Hat" on the Laverys site
  • It's the first gig we've ever done and not play "tell me", "take me out" or any name variations of that song
  • First time playing "Time moves slowly" (aka the thing we did last week), "Good Winter" (aka bon ivor), "Drowned in Sound" (aka "thing") and "Explosion".
  • We still can't remember the names therefore the "aka" went on the set list.
  • McKay introduced "Good Winter" by saying we'd only practised it twice. Not true. About four times. Would have been five if we had time to soundcheck.
  • We had a photographer in. The photos can be found here. They look good!

Auntie Annies - 17/1/12

59 Sound

Take you out
Further on down the line
Steady as she goes
Born to Run

I can't be arsed writing out a big fuck off essay with these any more.. so I'll just do random "show notes" like Metallica do...

  • Gig #3
  • Gig #2 with Aidan on the sticks
  • Tell me was renamed Take you out when McKay texted me a set list to type out ("as good a name as any")
  • I had already left work so I had to write it out on pages.
  • I was the first one there... again!
  • We learnt to play 59 Sound the night before, in place of Free Girl Now, we sound checked with it for extra practice..
  • Had tuning problems at the start (McKay forgot his cappo was on), I played "take me to the ball game" to avoid silence..
  • Patrick had to be witty (see pic) as I had to tune from drop d, he didn't bother and just told me to hurry up
  • Deerstalker organised the night, a great bunch of lads. (their bass player lent me his tuner too..see above)
  • I had two pints, seemed to be the right amount.
  • Two of my aunties went and my grandparents asked about the gig the next day (!)
  • We didn't fuck up the bit in Born to Run this time
  • I did fuck up the start of Steady as she goes though
(L-R), Me, McKay, Patrick & Lais (stolen from Aidan's Facebook..
I'm sure he won't mind...
Thus ending our "residency" in Annie's. We have about a month to our next gig at the end of February, and hopefully with some new material.. better get the scale book out!
